Why This Reference Exists
Printed directories once put much of a community in one volume. Bloomfield Township research now requires separate record systems. The local Assessor supplies parcel context, the Oakland County Register of Deeds indexes land instruments, the Michigan Voter Information Center handles individual election questions, and the Bloomfield Township Public Library preserves historical sources. The directory brings together the official routes, collection leads, access limits, and contact details so research can start with the office that actually created the record.
What the Directory Provides
- Search paths by question: the street directory for an address, the city directory for historical volumes, and the resident lookup for a one-person verification trail
- Custodian routes: township assessing, the Register of Deeds, elections tools, court and vital-record sources, and the library history collection
- Practical methods: how to compare an address, read a dated directory line, and trace a household across compatible sources
- Access boundaries: Michigan Freedom of Information Act procedures, statutory confidentiality, office requests, and the limits of online indexes
